January 10-16| Preparing for the New Moon

This past week may have felt like an odd mix of emotions and energy. Mars and Venus have been meeting with the Sun, which often brings our focus to things like finances, values, relationships, and where we want them to grow. All of this has been happening as we wrap up a Moon cycle and quietly prepare for the next one.
You may be noticing a stronger pull to check in with what actually matters to you right now. What feels worth your time and energy. What you’re still passionate about — and what may be fading. These are not easy things to sort through, and they aren’t meant to be rushed.
With so much happening in Capricorn, a sign that wants things to last and be meaningful, it’s normal to feel a little serious or reflective. This energy asks us to take inventory. To really decide what we want to keep building — and what may be ready to go.
As we come to the end of this Moon cycle, which also bridges us from 2025 into 2026, that’s my invitation to you this week. Notice what you’re holding onto because it still feels aligned, and what you may be holding simply out of habit.
If you want to go deeper with the New Moon on Sunday, January 18 — especially how it shows up personally for you — that deeper exploration will happen inside the New Moon Circle on Friday, where we slow things down and work with it together.

Before we dive into Sunday is important to note:
We’ll also move into a longer Void of Course Moon on Saturday that will last about 17 hours, from 11:54 am CT on Saturday until 4:55 am CT on Sunday.
Since it’s been a bit since we’ve had one of these, here are a few gentle reminders for how to work with this window.
✅ Great for:
Meditating or quiet reflection
Finishing up existing projects
Taking walks or spending time outside
Resting or napping — and paying attention to your dreams
Making a to-do list before the window begins
🚫 You may want to skip:
Starting something brand new
Making major decisions
Being hard on yourself 🤪
Void of Course Moons aren’t “bad” — they simply ask us to pause, integrate, and let things settle. Sometimes the most supportive thing you can do is give yourself permission to slow down.
✨ January 11 and 12, 2026
The Moon moved into Scorpio early Sunday morning at 4:55 am CT. This Scorpio Moon paired with the Capricorn Sun is a powerful combination. Both like to lead, take responsibility, and stay in control of a situation. It can be very productive, and it can also bring up triggers or potential power struggles. Being aware of that ahead of time gives you a choice in how you want to navigate it.
Even with that possibility, this Water Moon and Earth Sun combination is actually very workable if you choose to engage with it intentionally. With the new beginnings that have been forming over the last few days, this is a really good time to dive in and start planning. Research, strategy, and deeper conversations about how to bring your goals into reality are especially supported right now.
If things begin to feel hard or overwhelming, remember you can always turn to the element of the Moon: water. Drink it. Bathe in it. Sit by it. Put on music and let it move through you. If you have snow where you are, even playing in it can help reset your energy. This can be especially supportive if emotions feel tender or if old ego wounds or inner-child themes surface on Monday.
I keep coming back to a phrase I shared last month when the Moon was in Scorpio:Water helps you soften whatever feels stuck.
After all, it’s really hard to move forward when we’re locked in place, isn’t it?
✨ January 13, 2026
Tuesday is a transitional day as the Moon moves from Scorpio into Sagittarius at 5:33 pm CT.
For most of the day, the energy will feel similar to the previous two days. It’s still important to be mindful of triggers, especially around ambition and any inner wounds connected to it. These may feel tender, particularly if you noticed them surfacing on Monday.
Once the Moon moves into Sagittarius, the energy begins to lighten. Turning toward what brings you joy, curiosity, or a sense of meaning can be especially supportive. Even something small that helps you feel more hopeful or expansive can shift the tone of the evening.
✨ January 14 and 15, 2026
Wednesday is a good day to lean into the optimism of the Sagittarius Moon, especially if you’re feeling tension between your emotions and how to navigate them alongside practical, stable thinking and communication.
You may notice a bit of a push–pull between feeling-based intuition and logic-driven ambition. Working with the Sagittarius Moon can help you see the bigger picture.
Big ideas may surface now, and they can be powerful, as long as they’re grounded in reality so they can actually take shape. This is about balancing compassion with responsibility and learning how to voice emotional needs in a constructive way. Some of this may still be connected to the inner wound healing that showed up on Monday and Tuesday.
Your dreams from Wednesday into Thursday may offer insight into how to bring your ideas—or even long-term dreams—into reality. If you wake up with something on your mind, write it down before it floats away. There’s also an expect the unexpected quality to this energy, so rolling with changes rather than resisting them can help.
Leaning into the joy, curiosity, and spontaneity that the Sagittarius Moon loves is a really supportive way to navigate these days.
✨ January 16, 2026
As we close out the week, we step into the Balsamic phase of the Moon when she enters Capricorn at 5:47 am CT.
This is the time of the lunar cycle meant for reflection. It’s an opportunity to look back at what you learned over the last Moon cycle and to do the final letting go of what doesn’t need to come with you into the next one, which begins on Sunday afternoon.
If things feel hard at all, lean into what grounds you. Slowing down now is supportive, even if it feels counter to what you think you should be doing.
More about the first New Moon of 2026 will be shared in next week’s email and blog post. If you’d like to work with it more intentionally, our New Moon Circle is available and will take place today.
Until next week 🌙
