December 26–January 2 | Building What Comes Next

Good morning!

As I sit down to write this note, it’s Christmas Eve. We haven’t yet experienced all that the next few days will bring, and that feels meaningful to name. This season still holds possibility.

My hope for all of us is that we are able to tap into the magic and newness that lives here — even in small, quiet ways.

I am truly grateful for your presence in my life. I hope my musings over this past year have offered insight, comfort, or a sense of companionship along the way. As we move forward into 2026, new paths will open, and we will each get to forge them in our own way.

That word feels important right now: together.

You are never alone. We are always in this together.

✨ December 26-27| Aries First Quarter Moon

Aries Moon with Mercury stationing Direct and Venus changing sign.

Recap from the email:

The Moon moves into Aries early Saturday morning at 2:01 am CT, building toward the First Quarter Moon at 1:09 pm CT.

Under an Aries Moon, we often feel the urge to act first and think second. The energy can feel fiery, impulsive, and eager to move. Immediate action and gratification can feel especially tempting. Having a healthy outlet over these two days matters.

As this energy builds toward the First Quarter Moon, it may feel like a bull at a rodeo, ready to burst out of the gate. This reflects the natural tension between the Capricorn Sun and the Aries Moon. There is pressure, yes, though there is also courage, initiative, and momentum available.

At a First Quarter Moon, we feel a push to move toward goals or plans that were seeded during the Sagittarius Moon. This is no longer just about ideas or conversations. It is about taking action, committing energy, and beginning the work with intention and decisiveness.

Adding support to this forward motion is a beautiful aspect between Mercury and Chiron on Saturday. This opens the door to healing conversations and healthier thought patterns. You may find yourself revisiting ideas or plans that first surfaced around the Sagittarius New Moon, now with more clarity and confidence.

If frustration bubbles up, a few things may help:

  1. Move your body. Physical movement helps release excess fire and tension. If you need ideas, my Move Your Fire Guide may be helpful. You can find it among my free and self-paced offerings HERE.

  2. Practice patience. This may not feel natural under an Aries Moon. If impatience takes over, step away, move your body, and return when your nervous system feels steadier.

On Sunday evening, we enter an almost 10-hour Void of Course Moon from 8:13 pm CT to 5:57 am CT Monday. Since most of this window happens while we rest, paying attention to your dreams may offer meaningful insight.

✨ December 29 and 30| Aries → Taurus

Innovated ideas could come out of the Aquarius moon especially if you are with people who get you.

The bed may feel extra comfortable and a little harder to leave on Monday under this Taurus Moon. These can be very productive days — the kind where you work hard and then truly savor the results. You may even feel motivated to head out for a really good meal Monday evening or enjoy making something nourishing at home.

As we move into Tuesday morning, the Mercury–Saturn square reaches its peak. What does that mean in real life? As this energy builds on Monday, you may notice your thoughts needing extra clarification, especially around goals, plans, or responsibilities. Pay attention to any misunderstandings that might need to be cleared up. You may also find yourself rethinking boundaries that need to be set or reinforced.

Earlier in Mercury’s retrograde cycle, there were three moments when Mercury and Saturn were working more easily together: October 25, November 22, and December 7. That makes me curious whether the square we experience on the 30th acts as a push to revisit insights or conversations that began around those dates.

It may be helpful to look back through emails, social media, notes, or even your 3-Step Retrograde Activation Mini Workbook to see if anything overlaps or wants your attention now. If something clicks, feel free to email me at sarah@writteninthestars.me or leave it in the comments below! I would love to field test this thought process!

✨ December 31 and January 1 | Taurus → Gemini

End the week with the Pisces Moon!

The Moon moves into Gemini at 7:13 am CT on Wednesday morning. While the Taurus Moon may have encouraged us to stay cozy and linger in bed, a Gemini Moon often has us feeling more awake, curious, and ready to explore. You may notice this shift playing out across both days as your mind wants movement, conversation, or new ideas.

What a wonderful quality to lean into as we move from 2025 into 2026: curiosity.

Staying curious can also help if anything feels frustrating or unclear. On Thursday, Mercury squares Neptune, which can leave thoughts feeling foggy, scattered, or stuck. If you don’t need to make any major decisions that day, that may actually work in your favor. This energy is better suited for reflection than for firm conclusions.

During Mercury’s recent retrograde cycle, Mercury formed supportive trines to Neptune on October 29, November 19, and December 11. It makes me wonder if this square serves as an activation point, inviting you to revisit insights, dreams, or intuitive nudges that surfaced around those dates.

If a mental fog does roll in, it may begin to lift when Mercury enters Capricorn at 3:10 pm CT, almost eight hours after the square peaks. Mercury shows us how we think, learn, and communicate. In Capricorn, those processes often feel more practical and structured. It becomes easier to see the path between point A and point B, making problem-solving and goal-setting feel more accessible. Mercury remains in Capricorn through the 20th, offering steady support.

What a fitting way to welcome the new calendar year.

Inside the Between the Moons Membership, I’ll also be sharing how these Mercury shifts may show up for you personally, especially around communication and thought patterns.

If you’re curious how Mercury connects to different learning styles — for yourself or the children in your life — I invite you to explore an offering I created called Mercury’s Wisdom: Discovering Learning Styles for All Ages. This self-paced program is designed to help both parents and individuals understand learning styles through the lens of Mercury in astrology. It includes a comprehensive, downloadable PDF that serves as both the main guide and workbook, making it easy to explore at your own pace.

✨ January 2 | Gemini → Cancer

End the week with the Pisces Moon!

The Moon moves into Cancer at 7:08 am CT on Friday, beginning the build toward the Full Moon that will occur while we sleep on Saturday. Don’t worry — I’ll share more about that Full Moon next week.

As the Moon enters Cancer, you may notice a push-pull around home and work, or between caring for others and tending to yourself. Cancer Moons can be especially sensitive, and emotions may feel closer to the surface. Tears may come more easily. Know that this is okay.

With this Moon building toward the first Full Moon of 2026, feelings can seem bigger or more tender than usual. Try to be gentle with yourself. If something feels activating or hard to hold on your own, reaching out to someone you trust — a friend, loved one, or therapist — can help you process what’s coming up.

Offering yourself simple self-care, comfort, and rest can go a long way under this Moon.

This week carries us across a threshold — from reflection into motion, from one year into the next. Pay attention to what you’re feeling, what you’re questioning, and what is beginning to take shape. Astrology offers the weather, not the outcome. How you move through it matters. Trust that you are allowed to begin where you are, with what you have, exactly as you are. If you’d like a way to work with these themes more intentionally, you’ll find details below about my 2026 Astrology Outlook, created to support you as you choose how to move forward.

Until next week!
