The big headline for the day is that Mercury is finally out of his shadow from the last retrograde. While that shift might help things feel clearer mentally, the overall day may still feel a little fuzzy. Why?
A couple of reasons:
First, we’ll have a Void of Course Moon from 11:17 AM CT today until 2:16 AM on Sunday. As always, this isn’t the best time to launch something brand new. Instead, it can be a lovely window to reflect on the last Moon cycle and how it impacted you. Second, we’re in the Balsamic phase of the Moon — the dark, dreamy, inward part of the cycle. It's often better to start things later in the week, once the New Moon arrives. Third, Mars (our drive, our anger) is exactly opposite Pluto (transformation, power). Back in September 2024, when this cycle began, I encouraged you to pay attention to your triggers. Today’s one of those days where being aware of what activates you really matters. Power struggles are more likely under this transit. If something feels tough or sticky, moving your body might help you process it all.

As we wake, the Moon enters Taurus. It might feel really good to take your time getting out of bed, make a delicious breakfast, and just savor the Sunday pace.
The New Moon peaks at 2:31 PM CT at 7° Taurus. If you know your chart, take a look to see where Taurus lands — that’s the area of life this cycle is highlighting for you.
What’s especially interesting about this lunar cycle is that each key Moon phase falls in a different element: Earth for the New Moon, Fire for the First Quarter, Water for the Full Moon, Air for the Last Quarter.
That feels like such a beautiful invitation to root into Taurus’ grounding energy while working with the full elemental spectrum.
This New Moon brings themes of self-worth, abundance (and our belief in our worthiness to receive it), finances, safety, and security.
If you’re journaling, try these prompts:
What are my thoughts about abundance and allowing it into my life? Do I believe I’m worthy of it?
How do I feel safe in my body? Who or what helps me feel safe in the world?
Is there a habit that needs tending to? Is it time to release it — or to start it again?
What’s been triggering me lately? Why does it hit that nerve, and how might I begin to resolve it?
This is also a great time to make Moon Water or set your crystals out to charge. You can even use the water to wash your door frames — a gentle way to invite new energy into your space.
✨ Tip be sure to check your Birth Chart: If you have your birth chart handy, see which house 7° of Taurus falls in—this can give you insight into which area of life this New Moon is activating for you. Today has a “expect the unexpected” vibe. With that in mind, leaning into flow and staying flexible might serve you best.
There’s a lot of energy in the sky today that supports visioning and planning your next steps. Some of those answers might even come through dreams or daydreams — so pay attention to what’s swirling in your subconscious. Notice the signs around you too, especially if something seems to arrive with a little extra sparkle.

The Moon moves into Gemini as we wake. If things feel hard, Gemini brings the gift of curiosity. We’ll get to work with that superpower through Wednesday.
Here are a few things to pay attention to:
Your dreams — especially those tied to your current relationships
Any feelings of inner transformation
Sudden bursts of creativity — will you grab them when they show up?

Venus moves into Aries around lunchtime today! This shift also means she’s getting closer to leaving her post-retrograde shadow.
You might feel a spark of energy around relationships or fresh ideas about finances. This is the third time Venus has passed this degree — the earlier moments were February 4 and March 26/27. If those dates brought up a theme or situation for you, this may be the next chapter of that story. Talking things out could be especially helpful now.
May 1 and May 2, 2025
As we move into May, the Moon shifts into Cancer — a sweet pairing with our earthy Taurus Sun. It’s a cozy, emotional energy that can also be deeply sensitive. If tears come, let them flow — especially if they’re tied to frustrations that need a voice.
By Friday, Mars is officially out of his retrograde shadow, too. That means everything is moving forward now — at least for a little while! This is a gorgeous moment to channel creativity and take action. So... what will you do with it?
Looking ahead: Pluto will station retrograde on Sunday along with the First Quarter Moon.
