February 7-13| Shadows and Movement

Winter wonderland is upon us as we go into our final week of Sagittarius season leading to the Sagittarius New Moon
Every week I pick a picture to represent the energy of the week ahead. With Saturn moving into Aries on Friday the 13th it gives me the feeling of structured (Saturn) courage (Aries). I’ll share more about that as we dive into the Cosmic Weather of the Week

Dear friends!

We’re only a few days into the second month of the year, and already I can feel a shift. Do you feel it too?

The weather itself seems to be changing — the bitter cold giving way to hints that spring may be coming, with snow beginning to melt and light returning little by little.

The energy feels different as well. February carries a quicker pace than January, almost like waking from a long winter slumber. It helps, of course, that all the planets are moving forward… at least for now 🙂

All of this makes sense as we move closer to Eclipse Season and the Lunar New Year — thresholds that tend to stir things awake and invite movement.

If you’d like to go deeper with the Aquarius New Moon Solar Eclipse on Tuesday, February 17, especially how it shows up personally for you, we’ll be doing that deeper work inside the New Moon Circle on Friday the 13th. This is a space where we intentionally slow down, look at the chart, and work with the timing together.

To make this even more accessible, you can join the circle for free by using the code Eclipse26 before 11:59 pm CT on Wednesday, February 11 (12:59 am ET / 9:59 pm PT).

There are only 13 spots available with this code, and 10 remain at the time I’m writing this. You’ll find the link for all sign-ups below.

February 7 and 8, 2026

Building to the New Moon to start our week.

Saturday may begin with a slightly fuzzy, slow-to-wake feeling. We have a Void of Course Moon from 5:59 am CT to 1:13 pm CT, making dream time, rest, and staying cozy especially supportive. Your bed may feel extra inviting — and honestly, that’s not a bad way to use this window.

If possible, avoid starting anything new until after 1:13 pm CT, when the Moon shifts.

Once the Moon moves into Scorpio, we’re gently being set up for the Last Quarter Moon on Monday. Quarter Moons often bring a subtle edge of frustration — a sense that something needs adjusting, releasing, or reworked.

Scorpio is a water sign that loves to go deep and get to the heart of the matter. I often think of it as frozen water. Living in Minnesota, I know frozen water doesn’t mean nothing is happening — quite the opposite. There’s movement underneath the surface, even if we can’t see it yet.

The Scorpio Moon invites us to break through that surface.

This can look like releasing old habits, outdated ideas, or thought patterns that no longer serve us — making space for what wants to grow next.

On Sunday, Uranus adds to this invitation as it squares Venus, especially highlighting areas around finances and relationships. Sudden insights, disruptions, or awakenings can happen here — not to create chaos, but to loosen what’s become too rigid.

If frustration shows up this weekend, consider a few gentle ways to work with the energy:

  • Have honest, grounding conversations with trusted friends

  • Drink plenty of water, or soak in a long Epsom salt bath

  • Put on music and dance intuitively — letting your body lead

The Last Quarter Moon peaks Monday morning. If you have had a frustrating weekend you may notice it start to ease as well.

February 9, 2026

Mercury is back in Scorpio as we continue to build to the New Moon

The Last Quarter Moon peaks at 6:43 am CT at 20° of Scorpio.

Both the Aquiarus Sun and Scoprio moon are fixed signs. We have the emotional inteisity of the Scorpio moon while the desire to be detatached while innovated intellectually and looking at the world at large with the Aquairus Sun.

This is the last ditch effort in this moon cycle ot release the old deep-seated emotioanl baggage (Scoprio) to make room for the future and all the creativie out of the box ideas it can bring for your independence (Aquarius)

If you have been feeling a frustration about that all weekend long..yep that is possible. With both of these beign fixed signs it can mean stubborness is also present too. The trick is to use the dectivive like nature that Scoprio can be getting to the heart of the matter while tapping into the Aquairus nature ot innovate.

Transformation is what Scoprio asks. Why not use that idea to transformon your own before Eclipse Season happens and hte Universe lends a hand with what no longer is needed for your future.

This realease work will not end at the 6:43 am CT mark. You may notice it happening the rest of the day as well though it may start to ease if you have been frustrated as the day goes on.

February 10 and 11, 2026

Mercury is back in Scorpio as we continue to build to the New Moon

I’ve been calling this week Shadow and Movement — and these two days are why.

On Tuesday, we wake up under a Sagittarius Moon, where she’ll remain until Thursday at 1:44 pm CT. This creates a blend of Aquarius-style innovation and out-of-the-box thinking with the philosophical optimism Sagittarius brings.

If you have kids, consider this your gentle heads-up: you may hear a lot of “No… but can we do it this way?”Both Aquarius and Sagittarius value independence, unconventional approaches, and a bit of rebellion. Internally, many of us will want more freedom and non-traditional solutions.

As a parent, this can be an invitation to let your child offer ideas about how to move forward, while you hold the overall structure. For example: letting them choose where to nap. The nap still happens — they simply get to choose the location.

If things feel challenging or restless, move your body. This is a fire-sign Moon, and physical movement is one of the easiest ways to work with this energy.

While we sleep, the Moon isn’t the only thing shifting — Venus moves into Pisces as well.

I’ve often heard Venus in Pisces described as a spa day for Venus. In our charts, Venus represents our values, relationships, and finances. While she’s in Pisces until March 6, we’re invited into more devotion, compassion, creativity, and softness. You may notice yourself drawn to music that moves you, art that stirs emotion, or experiences that feel deeply nourishing.

I’ve seen this beautifully through my oldest, who has Venus in Pisces in their natal chart. They love going to jazz shows while sketching at the same time — fully immersed in sound and image. That blend of music, feeling, and creativity is, to me, the embodiment of this energy.

Wednesday brings an important heads-up and the "Shadow" part of this week's theme.

This is the day Mercury enters its pre-shadow phase, letting us know a Mercury Retrograde is on the horizon (it begins February 26). Pre-shadow periods aren’t about things going wrong — they’re about noticing patterns early.

Pay attention to where your thoughts keep circling, where conversations feel repetitive, or where familiar themes begin resurfacing. These are clues pointing to what may be reviewed, revised, or reworked during the retrograde itself.

Also on Wednesday, you may notice healing energy focused around identity. This awareness may come through triggers — not to overwhelm, but to reveal. They help make it clearer what wants care, attention, and healing as we move closer to Eclipse Season.

February 12 and 13, 2026

Scorpio New Moon helps us dig in deep

I find myself wondering what our dreams may bring early Thursday morning — and here’s why.

As we sleep, Mercury (communication and thought) will sit close to the North Node (our higher purpose). The Nodes are what activate Eclipse Season, and with Mercury moving through dreamy Pisces, our subconscious may have more to say than usual.

You may receive insights about the path forward — not necessarily in a clear or linear way, but in symbols, feelings, or images. If something stands out, write it down. It may not make sense yet, but it could later — especially during Mercury Retrograde or as part of your personal Eclipse story.

At 1:44 pm CT, the Moon moves from Sagittarius into Capricorn, where she remains until 12:16 am CT Sunday. As we near the end of this lunar cycle, the desire to get things done — and done well — may rise.

Even though the Balsamic phase officially begins early Sunday, this Capricorn Moon can already invite reflection. Earth signs like to slow things down, think things through, and consider what will last. You may find yourself inspired to create change with staying power — something meant to endure beyond just this moment.

That desire for lasting structure becomes even more pronounced as we move into Friday.

Saturn enters Aries, where he’ll remain through 2028, marking the lead-up to one of the major astrological moments of 2026: the Saturn–Neptune conjunction on the 20th. We had a preview of Saturn in Aries last spring and summer, offering a glimpse of the courage and commitment this transit asks of us.

Saturn in Aries supports bold beginnings that are meant to last — leadership rooted in responsibility, action guided by integrity. I love that this shift happens under a Capricorn Moon, one of Saturn’s home signs. Saturn is strong here.

A gentle heads-up: with Saturn emphasized, you may feel pushed — too fast, too far, or too hard — and that can show up as irritability or grumpiness. If that happens, pause and ask yourself what brings you back to center. Is it stepping outside? Closing your eyes and breathing? Grounding into your body? Let your answer guide you.

✨ Closing Reflection

This stretch of days — from Scorpio’s deep emotional release, through Sagittarius movement and Venus-softening, into Capricorn’s commitment — asks us to notice what’s surfacing and what we’re ready to build.

We are clearing space, listening closely, and beginning to shape what comes next with intention rather than urgency. Eclipse Season is approaching, and the work you do now — noticing patterns, tending to emotions, choosing what lasts — matters more than it may seem.

On a personal note, Friday, February 13 marks 24 years since I became a mom for the first time. It was through this incredible human that astrology, in this form, first entered my life. I’m endlessly proud of who they are and all they’ve accomplished, and I can’t wait to see what adventures this next year brings for them.

Thank you for being here with me as we move through this week — one insight, one release, and one intentional step at a time. 🌙
